Excel and accounting skills workshop

Excel and accounting skills workshop

A three-week workshop will be offered in Bluffton, Piqua and Archbold, Ohio, in the summer of 2013 to strengthen Excel skills and help develop some understanding of core financial statements.

This non-credit workshop will be particularly helpful for students entering the Bluffton University Graduate Programs in Business (MAOM or MBA) but is open to the general public for professional development.

Specifically, the workshop seeks to provide an introduction to business use of Excel functions and capabilities within the context of the basic needs of the manager. Excel topics include formulas and functions, charts and data tables. The business topics include what if analysis, analysis of income statements and cash flow analysis. Cost is $125.

Schedule:

The schedule consists of three two-hour classes on three consecutive Monday, Tuesday or Thursday evenings; depending on your location. Classes meet 7-9 p.m. each evening with time for individual coaching immediately after class as needed. Written assignments due on days 2 and 3 will take approximately four hours each to complete. Depending upon interest, the Edison and Northwest State classes may be offered via video conference.

Jason Swartzlander, CMA, CFM, MBA, is instructor for the course. Jason is a full-time Bluffton University professor who teaches in the business studies department.

There is no textbook for the course. Excel and business related handouts will be provided as a foundation for the learning process.

This workshop is not offered for academic credit hours. People who attend all three sessions and complete the homework will receive a Certificate of Completion for one workshop credit.
