What is your favorite thing about being a teacher?
I love the preparation and interaction with students. Participating in the learning process is just an exciting thing for me.

What age were you when you first discovered that you wanted to be a teacher?
Even as a little girl, my favorite game was to play "school." I would make my younger brother or toys be the students and I'd use my mom's old teacher manuals to "teach" them. I'm one of those blessed people who has never had any question in my mind that being a teacher is what God made me to be.

What is your favorite subject to teach, and why?
I like the challenge of learning a new subject and growing in my own understanding before I teach others. But I also enjoy teaching stuff I'm comfortable with and going deeper with students.

Where is your favorite place/ season/ event on Bluffton's campus?
Spring, I love spring on Bluffton campus.

Who were your favorite teachers in high school and middle school?
My junior high science teacher and high school math teacher were both favorites. Both of them challenged me and got to know me personally. They both believed in me and that always makes a difference.

What do you do in your free time?
Most of my free time is spent being a mom, though I do enjoy scrapbooking and stamping.

What was the first job you ever had?
I was a secretary for my family's small home business that we all helped run. On the weekends when I was in junior high school, I filed things and sent out mailings.

What kinds of activities did you participate in when you attended college?
I went to Bluffton, so these will all sound familiar… I was in the first Shining Through group, which I helped name, PALS, BASIC, Peace Club, Chorale and BCEO.

Where is somewhere that you would like to visit?
My favorite place in the world is Alaska, and I'd like to go back.

What is your 'bucket list', or a couple things you would like to do before you die?
I would love to be able to see the Holy Land, and travel the world experiencing new cultures.
