Women's Council Grant for Women

Each academic year, Women's Council sets aside money to provide Professional Enrichment Grant for Women. Full-time junior, senior or fifth-year women are eligible to apply for grants to obtain professional experience in an anticipated career. For example, a grant could be awarded to cover the registration fee of a professional conference or experience. Typically, the maximum amount of a grant will be $300. Applications will be received Aug. 1 through May 1. To apply for the grant, women must complete the application and provide a reference from a faculty member in their major area. Grants will be awarded on a first-come basis. Each student is eligible for one grant per year.

Thank you

Dear Bluffton University Women’s Council,
I am so thankful for the Professional Enrichment Grant for Women. The dietetic trip to Denver, Colo., was a wonderful learning experience. I attended interesting seminars. I also joined Dietetic Practice group called “Hunger, Nutrition and Environment.” I feel that I made some connections with people and organizations that will be very helpful down the road.

Thank you for supporting young women like me who are on the professional development journey!

Dear Women’s Council,
I would like to take the time to thank you for providing funding for my trip to Denver, Colo., for the Food and Nutrition Conference & Expo. I attended many sessions that opened my eyes to the careers available in dietetics, but there were many more that I would have also enjoyed, but didn’t have time for. Attending the conference allowed me to talk one-on-one with dietetic internship directors, which is the next step in becoming a registered dietitian. This alone was worth the trip as I was able to rule out & confirm my interest in some of the internships. The grant was great assistance and I greatly appreciated it. Hopefully someday I will also be able to give back so other students in my situation will be able to attend an event like FNCE.

Thank  you,
Karla Nofziger
