May Day four-mile run/walk

Plans are being made for the 2017 May Day Four-Mile Run on Saturday, May 6. Last year nearly 150 runners and walkers - students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members - ran the 4-mile course in and around the Bluffton University campus on a beautiful spring day. Proceeds of the run/walk support the Bluffton University Alumni Association.
All events start and conclude at the Sommer Center
- 7 a.m. check in and walk-up registration begins;
- 8 a.m. START four-mile race and Nature Preserve walk
- 9 a.m. trophies, medals and door prizes
All paved, rural roads. Mile splits. Water along route. Four-mile distance. Post-race complimentary refreshments and men's and women's locker rooms will be available for all runners.
Advance registration (by April 22) is $20 with newly designed moisture-wicking shirt or $12 with no shirt. Day of event registration is $15 with no shirt. Shirts available for $15 while supplies last. Fee is subject to change.
Trophies for the first overall male and female runners. Medallions will be given to the top three finishers in each age group for both males and females. Age groups are 10-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75 and over.
Two course choices: 1) A course that winds through the Bluffton University Nature Preserve with some trail hiking. Be prepared for mud in the event of inclement weather. 2) A stroller-friendly course that will be on paved roads. A water rest stop is provided at the College Cabin.
