Looking Back Moving Forward
"These last few months as Bluffton’s ninth president, before I retire at the end of June, have given me reason to reflect on my experience serving in that role. And what a privilege it has been to get to know so many of you—as students, and as alumni and friends of Bluffton University!"
In Bluffton’s more than 100 year history, just nine people have served the campus community as president. That longevity means under their leadership, they’ve had the perspective to truly see change occur. This has certainly been the experience of Dr. James M. Harder, who also shared that the most rewarding part of the job has been the privilege of simply working on Bluffton’s campus.
MOYER NATURE CENTER
University officials, trustees and alumna Harriett (Burkhart x52) Moyer recently celebrated the construction of the Moyer Nature Center, an 1,800-square-foot building located near the main entrance of Bluffton’s 160-acre nature preserve.
ALUMNI PROFILE: SHAHAD ALDOORI
Originally from Baghdad, Iraq, and currently living and working in Tampa, Fla., Shahad Aldoori ’13 still considers Bluffton home. “I have never met such nice people. They taught me a lot about peace and nonviolence and how to give without expecting anything in return.”
FACULTY 360: DR. DEANNA BARTHLOW-POTKANOWICZ
"By the time I got to college, I knew that I wanted to provide therapy to people struggling with eating disorders. Prior to working at Bluffton, I was the coordinator for an eating disorders treatment team at a university counseling center, which was challenging but rewarding work."
