Sophomore Karin Schaller ( Jenera , Ohio / Arlington ) has been named co-women's basketball player of the
week for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Schaller posted 10 points and
18 rebounds for the double-double against the Beaver's 68-50 victory over Lake Erie
. Bluffton is currently 1-10 on the season.
Schaller also posted nine blocks for the contest which breaks her own single game block record of eight in a game. She was only one block away from the coveted triple-double. The double-double in the game was her fifth of the season so far. For the year Schaller averages 11.3 points, 10.8 rebounds and 5.5 blocks per game.
"It's nice to see that Karin and Bluffton are getting some recognition that they deserve," Head Coach Amanda Curtis said. "It is good to see her get some rewards for working so hard. I look for her to keep improving and working hard as we move into conference play."
Schaller currently ranks 11th in the conference in scoring, leads in rebounding per game, is 10th in field goal percentage and leads in blocked shots. The Beavers will open conference action this Wednesday when they travel to Manchester College. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. For more information on the women's basketball team log on to the web at www.bluffton.edu/sports/womensbasketball.
