Freshman Tanya Rickenberg leads Beavers with career high 20 points, 9 assists; Junioir Lindsey Delscamp posts 9 points for career high

The Bluffton College women's basketball team (0-8) lost a close match up to
(6-3) on Saturday afternoon.
The Beavers led early in the contest 17-14 for their only lead of the game. At the half the score was 36-30 in favor of Marietta . To start of the second period Bluffton came roaring out of the locker room to tighten the game 44-43 (Marietta lead). Nearing the end of the contest with left to play the game was tied 57-57. A couple of missed shots and costly turnovers gave the Pioneers the advantage and final score of 70-61.
"We played well for 35 minutes of the game. We can't keep giving up the ball and seeing the other team turn it into points," Head coach Amanda Curtis said. "For the most part I'm happy. We just need to learn how to play for 40 minutes straight. Overall, intensity wise we did have one of our better games."
Turnovers did hurt the Beavers as Marietta connected 22 points from Bluffton giving up the ball. Many positives did however come out of Saturday's contest. The Beavers scored the most points in a game all season (61) to go along with their highest field goal percentage at .464. Bluffton also had season superlatives in three pointers (5) and assists (17).
Freshman Tanya Rickenberg (Defiance/Paulding) led Bluffton in scoring with a career high 20 points and nine assists (career high). Senior Lindsay Bacon (Troy/Troy) was the only other Beaver in double figures with 13 points. Junior Lindsey Delscamp (Germantown/Madison) had a career high day in points with eight. Sophomore Karin Schaller (Jenera/Arlington) had career highs in assists with four. She posted four blocks for the contest which brings her season total to 45, averaging 5.6 per game. Schaller is five blocks away from breaking the conference single season block record of 49.
Bluffton will be back in action on December 29 when they travel to Olivet. Game time is scheduled for .
