NEW CONCORD , OHIO - The Bluffton College womens' basketball team (0-3) were defeated 72-50 by Muskingum College on Wednesday night.
Bluffton came out very well early in the ball game as they were up 15-4 with 11 minutes left in the first half. A late half surge by the Muskies put them up by seven at the end of the first. The Beavers shot 43 percent (12-for-28) shooting in the first half to only be down by seven 37-30 going into the locker room. Bluffton went 8-for-26 in the second half (31 percent). Overall, the Muskies ended the game with 42 percent shooting, compared to the Beavers 37 percent on the game.
Leading Bluffton in points was senior Lindsay Bacon (Troy/Troy) with 17 points on the evening. Freshman Tanya Rickenberg (Defiance/Paulding) threw in 10 points and a team high seven assists. Sophomore Karin Schaller (Jenera/Arlington) had a team high nine rebounds and added seven points. ** (updated 11/27) Schaller also had eight blocks on the contest, breaking the BC blocks per game record. The previous record was five blocks in a game by Kim Bostater vs. Albion in the 1995-96 season.
The Beavers will be back in action next Wednesday for their 2003-04 home opener against Capital University . Tip off is scheduled for
