Bluffton fine tunes for HCAC Championships at Baldwin-Wallace

BEREA, Ohio - Personal records highlighted the day as the Bluffton men's and women's track and field team competed at the Sparky Adams Invite hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College on Saturday, April 21, 2012. The meet served as a final tune-up as the team prepares for the HCAC Championships next week.
On the women's side, sophomore Kayla Mullenhour (Delphos/Jefferson) ran a personal best in the 200 meters with a time of 28.00 to place 8th overall and ran another personal best in the 100 (13.59). Senior Megan Neal (Arlington) placed 8th overall in the hammer throw with a toss of 46.07 meters (151-02 feet).
On the men's side, freshman Ryan Schadewald (Lima/Bath) set a school record and ran a lifetime best in the 3,000-meters with a time of 9:36.59 to place 3rd overall. Freshman Jeff Parker (Bristol, Ind./Northridge) threw a lifetime best in the javelin with a mark of 50.64 meters (166-02 feet) to placed 2nd in the event and he also placed 7th overall in long jump with a jump of 19-07. Freshman Travaun Reaves (Berkley, Mich.) ran a personal best in the 200-meter dash with a time 24.21, jumped a personal best of 18-05.25 feet in the long jump and tied for 5th place in the high jump by clearing 6-0. Freshman Eric Dameron (Galion) ran a pair of personal bests in the 200-meter dash (24.54) and in the 400-meters (54.84).
Freshman Michael Gray (Ulysses, Penn./Northern Potter) ran a personal best in the 1500 with a time of 4:46.92. Senior Bryan Heckathorn (Hartville/Lake) threw a lifetime best in the hammer throw with a toss of 37.43 meters (122-10 feet). Freshman Rob Cook (Convoy/Crestview) threw a lifetime best in the hammer with a toss of 35.22 meters (115-07 feet). In the 800-meter run, freshman Aaron Brown (Mechanicsburg) ran a personal best in the 800-meter run with a time 2:07.05 while senior Andy Chaffee (Clarkston, Mich.) also finished with personal best time of 2:07.34.
The team will conclude its 2012 outdoor season at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. Hosted by Franklin College, the two-day championship meet is set to begin 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 27.
