Beavers place seven on All-Heartland Conference team

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University track and field team participated in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championships on April 4. The men's team took second place honors as the women's team placed third.
Freshman Kevin Davis (Albion, Mich./Albion) helped the men's squad finish second as he tallied a total of 30 points out of the 110 total team points. Davis took first place in the long jump with a jump of 6.68 meters and won the 110 meter hurdles finishing with a time of 15.28. Rounding off the day Davis finished first in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 55.01. Along with his three HCAC titles, Davis received the men's track athlete-of-the-year award, the men's track freshman-of-the-year award and was named All-Heartland Conference.
The men's track team placed two more on the all conference team. Sophomore Shandon North (Galion/Galion) placed first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 46.69. Sophomore Ricky Reucher (Toledo/Central Catholic) took first place in the high jump with a jump of 6'04".
The women's track team placed four on the all conference team. Junior Rita Muether (Celina/Celina) took first place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1.00. Senior Amanda Habegger (Berne, Ind./South Adams) took first place in the 400 meter hurdles running a time of 1.06 which placed her on the all conference team as well. The women's track team ended the championships in style by having two more athletes receive All-HCAC honorable mention, sophomore Cindy Allen (Fayette/Archbold) tallied 20 points and senior Jana Hammer (Halmer/ Patrick Henry) earned 16 points. To be named honorable mention an athlete must accumulate 16 points at the conference championships.
