Beavers defeat Manchester 3-0 in lone HCAC contest

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Bluffton University softball (16-7, 3-2 HCAC) defeated Manchester College (12-11, 3-4 HCAC) 3-0 in HCAC action on April 20. The second game of the doubleheader was called due to rain in the third inning.
The Beavers scored three runs in the top of the first inning when sophomore Carrie Weisbecker (Okeana/Ross) hit a double to score senior Mandy Snider (Wapakoneta/Wapakoneta) and junior Lindsay Miller (Grover Hill/Wayne Trace). Senior Jackie Wells (Napoleon/Patrick Henry) then posted a single to score Weisbecker in the next at bat for the 3-0 final.
Mandy Snider led the team as she went 3-for-4 with one run scored. Carrie Weisbecker went 2-for-3 with two RBI's and one run scored.
Junior Sarah Betts (Bryan/Bryan) pitched the one-hitter win on the mound for Bluffton. Betts struck out seven batters and walked three in the contest.
Bluffton University will be back in action on April 23 when they travel to Franklin College. The HCAC doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
