Beavers win one match on week

The Bluffton University men's tennis (3-7, 1-5) team won one match and lost five in action last week. On April 4, the Beavers were defeated 8-1 by Ohio Northern. Bluffton then hosted Heartland Conference rival Defiance on April 5 as the Yellow Jackets took the match 6-3. Wednesday April 6, the Beavers lost to Tri-State in a home match 7-2. Bluffton then traveled to Manchester on Saturday April 9 to take on HCAC opponents Manchester and Franklin. Franklin defeated the Beavers 9-0 and Bluffton was able to pick up a win against Manchester by a score of 5-4.
The Beavers will be back in action on Tuesday April 12 when the host the University of Findlay, start time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. The team will then travel to Indianapolis, Indiana to participate in the Heartland Conference men's tennis tournament on April 15-16 for their final matches of the season.
Leading Bluffton on the week was the No. 2 doubles team of Blake Babcock (Findlay/Findlay) and Tim Kauffman (Lilburn, Ga/Parkview). The freshmen picked up wins against Ohio Northern, Defiance and Manchester. In singles action Kauffman picked up two wins against Manchester and Defiance. Freshman Eric Martin (Berne, Ind./South Adams) recorded two wins against Manchester and Defiance.
