Rashawn West
Defensive Coordinator and Safeties Coach
Rashawn West joins the Bluffton University football program as the defensive coordinator and safeties coach for the 2014 season. He comes to Bluffton after two years as the linebackers coach at Hanover College where he worked with Bluffton Head Coach Denny Dorrel who was the defensive coordinator for the Panthers. West will also serve as the video coordinator.
Prior to his time at Hanover, West coached linebackers and defensive backs at Marietta College (2008-10) where he helped lead the Pioneers to a victory over a 7-0 Otterbein team that was ranked #7 in the country in 2009. In addition to working alongside Coach Dorrel at Marietta, West also served as a special teams assistant for the Pioneers.
A four-year starter at Thomas More College, West graduated in 2008 with a degree in elementary education and minor in business. He was a three-time All-Presidents Athletic Conference selection, twice at outside linebacker and at cornerback as a senior. His position coach and defensive coordinator at Thomas More was Coach Dorrel.
West, an Oxford, Ohio native, currently resides in Findlay.
