Beavers back in conference action after bye week

BlufftonUniversity (3-2, 1-0 HCAC) defeated ManchesterCollege in their HCAC opener two weeks ago 35-13. Anderson (4-1, 2-0 HCAC) defeated DefianceCollege 27-10.
Head coach Greg Brooks is in his second year at the helm of the BlufftonUniversity
football team. Brooks now posts five wins as the head coach of the Beavers. Before
his tenure as head coach, Brooks was the offensive coordinator for 22 years.
Anderson is led by second year coach Jeff Judge. Before going to Anderson, Judge was the Offensive Coordinator (2001-02) and Defensive Coordinator (2000) at the University of Wisconsin Stevens-Point.
Bluffton - Anderson Series History
Bluffton leads the all-time series with Anderson 16-13 dating back to 1967. The last time the Beavers defeated Anderson was in the 2000 season when they shutout the Ravens, 35-0 at home. Anderson has won the last three contests 27-9 (2001), 41-17 (2002) and 42-28 (2003).

Bluffton won their first conference opener since the 2000 season on
Anderson defeated Defiance 27-10 last Saturday on the road. Quarterback Chris McKee went 28-for-47 passing for 320 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Hyman Smith caught nine passes for 142 yards and one touchdown. Running back Denny Kimmel carried the ball 19 times for 63 yards and caught the ball four times for 32 yards and one touchdown.
Leading the Beavers
Quarterback Tim Koontz posts 17 completions in 41 attempts for 160 yards passing on the year. Ben Dodds posts 426 yards rushing and six touchdowns on 102 attempts. Terence Clayton (154 yards rushing) and Ben McCullough (148 yards rushing) round off the ground attack. Receiver Leon Payne has accumulated 232 yards receiving on 12 catches for two touchdowns. Mark Gable has 11 catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns for the season. Defensively, Scott Steiner has 67 tackles (31 solo, 36 assist), one interception, three pass break ups and one blocked kick. Sam McCullough posts 39 tackles with Matt Chiles recording 38 tackles for the season.

Denny Kimmel leads the Anderson ground attack with 116 attempts for 622 yards. Quarterback Chris McKee has a 56.1 completion percentage (164 attempts, 92 completions) for seven touchdowns and 975 yards passing. Receiver Hyman Smith has caught 32 passes for 389 yards and four touchdowns on the year. Linebacker Justin Helman posts 49 tackles (18 solo, 31 assist), one tackle-for-loss and one pass break up.
Last Year's Contest
The Ravens took the lead 20-7 in 2003, only to find Bluffton march back late in the game to take their own 21-20 lead. But, less than two minutes later in the fourth quarter Denny Kimmel would run in the touchdown to put Anderson up 28-21 with Bluffton's Ben Dodds coming right back to tie the game at 28 all. Two more quick touchdowns by the Ravens in the final six minutes would prove disastrous as Anderson won 42-28. Bluffton led statistically on the day in total yards with 437 compared to Anderson's 426. The Beavers held the ball for 41:20 minutes versus Anderson's on the game. The difference that mattered was in passing where the Ravens led with 386 yards, compared to the Beaver's 181.
