The Bluffton College women's tennis team earned their first win of the season on September 16 as the Beavers topped Defiance 6-3. BC is now 1-4 on the season and 1-3 in the Heartland Conference.
Against Defiance, Whitney Lehman, Jessica Culley and Nikki Phillips all recorded victories in singles action, while #1 singles player Amy Boley and #2 singles player Kathy Bumbaugh both fell in close matches. Phillips and Lehman teamed up to win in doubles action.
Against Mount St. Joseph on September 15, Bluffton fell in a tight contest 6-3 to the Lions. Bluffton's #3, #4 and #5 singles players were all victorious, as Lehman, Culley and Alena Schulty all recorded victories.
Bluffton was to have hosted matches on September 19 and 21 and will complete in Tiffin on September 23 against Heidelberg and Tiffin. The Beavers will host Goshen on Tuesday, September 26.
