Bluffton College fell to Ohio Wesleyan University Friday night 79-63 in the first game of the season for both teams as the Wilmington College Tip-off Tournament got underway in Wilmington, Ohio. Bluffton will play again at 6:00 on Saturday for a chance at a third place finish in the tournament.
Bluffton's Jen Bear scored a career high 26 points to lead all scorers in the game, but was the only BC player in double figures. She added a team-high five rebounds and four steals, as well.
Bluffton took a one-point lead with five minutes gone by in the game, but it would be their last advantage of the night as the Beavers would go on to trail by 11 at halftime, 39-28. Ohio Wesleyan went up by as many as 22 points in the second half before taking their 16 point win.
Kristin Helvey collected nine points, while Elizabeth Snavely scored eight points and Melissa James accounted for six.
