Scoring the game winning run in their final at bat in both games, the Bluffton College baseball team swept two games from a visiting Franklin College squad on Monday to improve to 4-4 in the Heartland Conference, good for a third place tie in current league standings.

Todd Pickthorn led off both final innings with a double and then went on to score the game winning runs. Both BC starting pitchers went the distance, as Joel Parrett won the opener and Bob Sierer allowed just two hits and struck out 10 batters in winning the second game.

In game one, Dustin Kreis singled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh, one of two hits on the day for him. Pickthorn added two hits, one a double, while Luke Habegger tripled.

In game two, Eric Metz singled home the game winner in the eighth inning, his second hit of the day. Brad Buckingham also collected two hits, one a double.

Bluffton is now 10-11 overall and will travel to Urbana University on Wednesday and Defiance College on Saturday.
