Bluffton rally falls short at Mount St. Joseph


Bluffton began the game with a 10-0 run Wednesday night at Mount St. Joseph and went on a similar run late in the game, but the host Lion squad hung on to take a 68-59 Heartland Conference victory in Cincinnati.

MSJ recovered from the Beavers 10-0 start with a 17-2 run of their own and led at half time 30-24. BC led by five points with 9:13 left in the game and tied the score at 50-50 with 4:43 to play, but Mount St. Joseph's Shauna Bemmes scored 13 points in the final four minutes of the game to lift MSJ to the win. Bemmes led all scorers with 22 points.

Kristy Crall led Bluffton with 14 points and eight rebounds and was 2-2 from three-point range. Elizabeth Snavely and Jen Bear each scored 12 points. Amy Aschemeier added eight points and was 2-3 from trey land as BC sank 19 of 23 free throws (83%). The Beavers however, shot 34% from the floor and committed 26 turnovers.
