Quakers hand BC 82-72 setback

Bluffton came up short on their bid to move into second place in the Heartland Conference Saturday afternoon, as Wilmington College handed BC an 82-72 loss in Founders Hall.

BC forced 33 Wilmington turnovers, but the Beavers had 29 of their own and shot just 42% from the floor and made 14 of 24 free throws.

A 14-0 run by Bluffton with under eight minutes left in the game brought the score to within eight points, but the Quakers then went on a 9-1 run of their own to put the game out of reach for the Beavers.

Kristin Helvey led all scorers with 23 points, nailing four three-pointers and four of four free throws. Elizabeth Snavely added 11 points, while Melissa James and Kristy Crall scored 10 points each.
