BC tops Mount St. Joseph 68-58


Bluffton College earned a 68-58 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory Wednesday night over a visiting College of Mount St. Joseph squad.

The win evened the Beavers' HCAC record at 3-3 and improved their overall record to 4-13.

Junior Elizabeth Snavely (Defiance) led BC with 20 points, hitting 10 of 14 field goal attempts. She also pulled down seven rebounds. Freshman Kristin Helvey (Toledo/Central Catholic) added 13 points, five assists and two steals.

Mount St. Joseph entered the game with the best ranked defense in the HCAC, and did hold BC to just 41% shooting from the field, but Bluffton forced 23 Lion turnovers and MSJ shot just 38% from the floor themselves and hit just 12 of 24 free throws.

Christina Brown led Mount St. Joseph (9-9, 2-4 HCAC) with 17 points.

Bluffton will be in action on Saturday at Hanover College in a men's and women's double header beginning at 1:00 p.m.
