Franklin evens Bluffton HCAC record

Franklin College remained perfect in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference this season as the Grizzlies handed Bluffton College squad an 87-63 loss at Franklin Wednesday night.

Bluffton was without the service of two regular starters, Amy Aschemeier and Bree Wood, who both are out sick with the flu. Freshmen Melissa James and Lyndsey Robinson took their place in the starting lineup.

The team was forced to stay overnight in Franklin due to the weather.

Elizabeth Snavely and Kristin Helvey scored 16 points each to lead Bluffton. Freshman Kelly Stieber added a season-high 14 points as she hit all five of her shots, four of which were from beyond the three-point arc.

Four Franklin players scored in double figures, led by Sherry Martin with 19 points. BC held Anne Heile, last week's HCAC Player of the Week, to 10 points. Franklin shot 53% from the floor and forced 23 BC turnovers.

Bluffton will travel to Wilmington College on Saturday for a 2:00 game broadcast on WDOH 107.1 FM.

BC and Franklin will meet again in Founders Hall on February 19th.
