Bluffton women win opening HCAC game


The Bluffton College women's basketball team took down a visiting Anderson University squad 79-59 Wednesday night in both school's first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game of the season.

Four players hit for double figures for Bluffton (2-10, 1-0 HCAC), led by junior Elizabeth Snavely (Defiance) and freshman Kristin Helvey (Toledo/Central Catholic) with 17 points each. Snavely also pulled down eight rebounds, while Helvey collected four assists and four steals.

Junior Bree Wood (Wauseon) scored 12 points and junior Jen Bear (Grover/Lincolnview) chipped in 10 for the Beavers.

Anderson (5-6, 0-1 HCAC) was led by Rachel Miller with 17 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

Bluffton will be in action again Saturday against Hanover College at 1:00 in Founders Hall.
