Jellison, Meck earn team awards at banquet

December 4, 2000

The 2000 Bluffton College volleyball banquet was held Sunday evening in Marbeck Center with two players picking up special awards. Junior Erica Jellison was named the Unsung Hero and freshman Jenae Meck earned the Most Improved Player award. Both awards were voted on by the team.

Jellison put up impressive statistics as Bluffton's setter after taking over that role for the first time ever last year. This season she collected 1,012 assists and also led the squad in service aces with 50.

Meck came on strong midway through the season and developed into one of Bluffton's main middle-hitting and blocking weapons. She led all freshmen in games played with 77 and she collected 82 kills and 39 blocks.

Seniors Alison Harrer, Betsy Hook and Beth Weidus were given special awards and Hook and junior Mandy Pequignot were honored for being named first team all-Heartland Conference.
