Bluffton falls at HCAC champion Franklin

Bluffton shot 55% from the floor and committed just seven turnovers, but it wasn't enough as HCAC regular season champion Franklin College handed BC a 94-82 defeat Saturday afternoon in Franklin, Indiana.

Jeremy Roberts led the Beavers with 27 points and 10 rebounds as BC closed out the regular season 10-14 overall and 2-10 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Bluffton will travel to Hanover College Tuesday night for the first round of the HCAC Tournament.

Franklin went on a 13-2 run midway through the first half to take control of the game and did not trail at any time in the second half despite a 58% shooting effort from BC in the final 20 minutes of play. Back to back layups from Ben Coole brought the margin to within five points with 4:33 left in the game, but a 9-0 run from the Grizzlies at that point swung the momentum back in favor of the home team.

Travis Elsass scored 21 points for BC, while Coole added 14 and Rod Overmyer netted 10.

Billy Scott led Franklin with 26 points on 13-18 shooting.
