Schoenherr, Stager lead BC at HCAC championship

The Bluffton College cross country team wrapped up their regular season last Saturday at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship hosted by Hanover College. The women's team produced three top 30 runners in the field of 74 and earned a sixth place team finish, led by freshman Kristen Stager who finished 23rd overall in 20:59. The men's team also finished sixth and was led by freshman Cory Schoenherr, who finished 17th in the field of 57 runners with a time of 28:47.

Freshman Heather Showalter finished 27th overall in 21:12 as the second BC runner to cross the finish line, while senior Erin Meadows finished 30th in 21:25. Also finishing for Bluffton were sophomores Lauren Bistline (47th, 22:30), Alyssa Inniger (49th, 22:41) and Katie Gwirtz (50th, 22:45), junior Betsy Yates (56th, 23:31), freshman Maggie Kerns (62nd, 24:44), senior Kari Suter (66th, 25:53), sophomore Mandy Borgelt (70th), freshman Rachel Lapp (71st) and sophomore Ben Noll (72nd).

Five BC men finished behind Schoenherr, including freshmen Jeremy Olson (38th, 30:38), Steve Borga (40th, 30:47) and Jeff Lewis (43rd, 30:55), sophomore Jeremy Gaub (51st, 33:37) and freshman Tom Shuggars (56th).
