Traveling to the Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, Illinois last weekend hosted by Loyola University, the Bluffton College men's and women's cross country squads again showed steady improvement as they prepare for the All-Ohio meet at Ohio Wesleyan University this Friday.

The weather was no help, however, as rainy and windy conditions hampered the runners. "They turned in better times than I expected with the bad weather conditions," said Head Coach Mark Bluman.

Leading the men's runners was Cory Schoenherr with a 27:51 finish, good for 128th place out of 257 total runners. Also finishing for the men were Steve Borga in 29:34, Jeremy Olson in 29:48, Jeff Lewis in 30:21, Jeremy Gaub in 32:47 and Tom Shuggars in 36:44.

Freshman Kristen Stager led the women's squad, crossing the finish line in 20:29 for 92nd place overall out of 295 runners. Freshman Heather Showalter ran a 21:02 and senior Erin Meadows ran a 21:15 to both finish in the top half of the field, while other times were turned in by Betsy Yates at 21:28, Katie Gwirtz at 22:25, Lauren Bistline at 22:40, Alyssa Inniger at 22:51, Maggie Kerns at 23:55, Kari Suter at 25:49 and Rachel Lapp at 26:45.

"Chicago was good preparation for the All-Ohio meet as far as size of field and competition," commented Coach Bluman in looking to Friday's meet in Delaware.
