Bluffton battles heat and course at Anderson
September 1, 2011
ANDERSON, Indiana - The Bluffton University cross country teams impressed first-year Head Coach Karen Brandt with their effort and determination as the Beavers competed against host Anderson University on Sept. 1, 2011. Bluffton was hoping to preview the course that will be the sight of the 2011 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at the end of October, but poor markings led to athletes on both teams going outside the lines.
A spike in the heat and humidity slowed the pace and the difficult to follow course rendered the finishing times meaningless as the Beavers ran their first race under Coach Brandt. The work the Bluffton harriers have done over the past two weeks, however, was evident and it has the team primed for its next meet at rival Defiance College.
The Beavers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 10 when Bluffton travels to Defiance College. The meet is slated to start at 10 a.m.
