ABOUT THE BEAVERS:
The 2013 campaign saw the Beavers set a school record for wins and earn the first 20+ win season in school history. Kyle Niermann (Napoleon/Napoleon) became the all-time Bluffton Hits leader with 248 for his career. Kyle was also named All-HCAC and 1st Team All-Mideast Region.
The 2014 squad returns a good deal of depth at key positions. The Beavers will build their pitching staff around seniors Ben Roeschley (Graymont, IL/Bishop Flanagan) and Nate Simonds (Ypsilanti, MI/Lincoln). Both Roeschley and Simonds were record-setters last year. Simonds set the single season mark for Innings Pitched with 74.1 and Roeschley set the single-game strikeout mark with 13 against Franklin College. The Beavers will also return senior catcher Tim Webb (Delaware/Worthington Christian). Webb has been an Academic All-HCAC performer two consecutive years and earned both 2nd Team All-HCAC (2012) and Honorable Mention All-HCAC (2013) for his on-field performance. Tim holds the all-time record for runners caught stealing with 33 for his career.
