BLUFFTON SENIOR WINS MOSIMAN YOUNG ARTIST CONTEST

Vocalist Sarah Diller, a Bluffton University senior, won the second annual Mosiman Young Artist Competition March 20 at Bluffton’s Bach Festival Concert.

A $100 cash prize accompanied the title for the Bluffton native, a soprano and a vocal performance major. She was one of three finalists chosen to perform at the concert that concluded the festival, hosted by the university’s music department. The other finalists, both juniors, were saxophonist Kitanya Murray from Findlay, Ohio—who shared an Audience Choice Award with Diller—and James Brake from Ohio City, Ohio, who performed on vibraphone.

Judging the competition were Bluffton music alumni Craig VanRenterghem, vocal music teacher at Findlay High School; Beth (Yoder) Voll, band teacher at Riverdale Local Schools; and Carolyn (Luginbill) McDaniel, an adjunct music instructor at the university.
